Nepal PM addresses conference in Delhi

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently in New Delhi of India, has addressed an conference organised by the Indian Council of World Affairs, on Monday.In the address, Prime Minister Oli stressed the need to strengthen Nepal-India relationship.Our past as well as the future are linked,” Oli said defining the relationship as “sovereign fraternity.” “We must trust each other and respect each other,” he added.He had also explained the current political situation of the nation at the conference.He reiterated that the Constitution making process in Nepal was inclusive and the historic charter was progressive without any kind of discrimination. . Oli during the address, however, maintained that the Constitution may not have satisfied all as it was a document of compromise among divergent people and groups.He said no Nepal would head toward economic development now as most of the political issues were settled. Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa, before Oli’s speech, had defended the new Constitution of Nepal claiming it has incorporated views of multiple political groups, some of which are totally opposite to each other.India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had chaired the conference. -
